I like concrete. It’s either already collapsed or perfectly safe

Step 1: Go explore something.

Step 2: Post said pics and brief story in your regional board or the photography board

Step 3: Be prepared to be ridiculed and told how you are breaking some urbex ethics or that your photos are shit by trollish elitists and asswipes.

Step 4: Swallow the pain, and take the criticism with a grain of salt.

Step 5: gain respect and make actual friendships

Step 6: Profit.

Bonus Step: After recieving FM come back to assert your urbex mastery and authority over new kids who are ruining the scene.

But seriously....

UER is a great place with some great people, albeit many which are pretty gruff and assholish.

Just grow some thick skin and don't take anything to heart and you'll do just fine.

Most importantly post pics.

Good advice right there! Especially the last line.

Abandonments in Iowa get bulldozed rather quickly.

Your first set (biker bar) showed some promise so that's a good start. You can learn a lot just looking at members pics, and you mentioned that your mom is into photography so ask her for a critique of your pics (if you're interested in improving said pics)

Look for members around your age in your area to explore with. Older members would shy away from exploring with you until you're no longer a minor. By then you'll be a seasoned explorer! Good Luck.

And once you're a seasoned explorer and an adult, you'll find it easier to meet up with local explorers and possibly end up invited to meetups! That's the route I ended up taking- it's a long one but well worth it.

Exploring

●Rule #1 Trust nothing.
https://www.uer.ca...=1&threadid=122644

●Rule #2 People are trouble.

●Rule #3 Hear them, see them, smell them before they do you.
Watch from the shadows and evaluate, then decide what to do.

●Rule #4 If they are ghost hunters, scare the hell out them so you can explore in peace.
Loud intermittent footsteps/dragging shit around and door slamming usually does the trick.
Deep growling, scratching sounds and maniacal laughter, standing in dimly light doorways has also been known to work.

Stay alert and enjoy your surroundings...

For the ease of others, try changing your picture to something that's your own. It get's really confusing when so many people have the same bag head picture.

Other than that, take lots of pictures and be nice. Happy exploring
