I stumbled on a very interesting game called "The Riverside Incident".
This one, at least in my opinion, was definitely one of the most interesting pieces of media I've ever seen. Especially in terms of the tie in to Urban Exploring.

Here's a description of the game:
"It is a found footage type of game. The player controls an unseen character who carries around a camera and wanders around an abandoned, ruined building (presumably they are an urban explorer)"

Wiring more than that might ruin the plot for anyone actually interested in playing it.
But the graphics look noticeably like a very old and Grainy VHS footage you might see in those mini cams from the 1990s or 1990s.

Definitely worth a look in my opinion and I think the game itself lasts only about 20 minutes at max but feels the most "ubrex-like" game I've ever seen. Found footage works surprisingly good for this medium.

Any thoughts on this style of urbex games?

I would rather just do it in real life, but it's an interesting concept. I think some of the Fallout games have locations greatly inspired by real life spots. Never played before, but I'll occasionally find stuff about it when researching spots.

I'm fairly certain much of the furnishings and leavings in Fallout were modeled after Chernobyl...but it's mostly just a guess.

The concept of an urbex type game is an interesting one, I suppose...I've used Fallout, GTA, BioShock, etc. as substitutes when I can't get out...but I'd rather be doing it for real. (Fewer radscorpions that way 😉)

Interesting. The walkthrough is really nice, the game seems focused on anxiety without any sound. Usually when you see "horror" games, the sounds are omnipresent to make you jump. But here the no sound atmosphere is almost more stressful. The fact that there's no real plot is actually cool and bothering at the same time.

It reminds me Slenderman in some aspects.

(Few years ago, with some friends, we played slenderman IRL in the corridors of our university (we used to sleep in the same building). One day, there was an abandoned school behind the university, and we all decided to play slenderman IRL for reel inside this big building, with notes to find, and people to scare. That was freaking awesome. But that's not the main topic, your video just reminded me that.)

A bit dramatized in some ways, but definitely more grounded than a lot of other urbex-like games (Fallout, Bioshock, etc.).

Damn, that brings back memories. I remember playing that back in middle school. Was never very good at that, only got through the first five or six rooms back then.

Should take another stab at it now that I'm homebound for the time being. I went through a bit of an escape room phase at the beginning of the year, hit up ~25 odd rooms in a month. Hopefully those skills translate to the OG digital rooms.

I occasionally go back to Bioshock every once in a while just to experience the atmosphere.
It does underwater dystopia so well that I sometimes imagine strolling around the city despite knowing the dangers lurking every corner.

Underwater urbex maybe...?

Complete with thugs and "crackheads" littered around the city haha!

Oh yeah definitely! To pull off any urbex game, atmosphere is key.
That would be interesting to see a game focused only on Urbexing and evading cops and secucity that find out someone is in the building. I'm surprised this hasn't been done or maybe it has but I haven't heard of it yet

I can see how that would be the case. I think San Andreas would fit the bill the most in this regards

I was just playing Horizon: Forbidden West - and enjoying all the nice overgrown and rusty cityscapes
