At the Calgary Super 8 social club, sponsored by the
CSIF, one of the older members introduced us to his new digital capture process. Somehow he scans 6 frames at a time and there's no flicker or hot spots. It looks really amazing. His rates are
insanely cheap as well. Check out
www.digican-dvd.com Bear in mind when you see the transfers that the footage was all shot in 1968 - then it seems even more amazing! I had him transfer my film "Decay" so I could send it to the Channel Islands Film Fest in California. He does really good work and works very quickly.
Apparantly the CSIF just bought some sort of super 8 to digital transfer machine too. Perhaps it's the same process. I don't know; I haven't seen what it can do yet. I'll keep you apprised if you're interested.
