Opened in the 1980s This vast open pit gold mine operated until the early 1990s. The open pit is quite impressive and difficult to capture its size without something to reference. After following the spiral down over a better perspective of the size of the mine. 2/3 of the mine is under water. As of 1992 the mine pulled out almost 12,000 pounds of gold. At its height, the mine was producing 200 oz of gold a day.

Very interesting! I’ve never seen an open pit mine outside of satellite/aerial imagery, and they do look massive. I think the closest I’ve come would maybe be a quarry, which is tiny in comparison. Thanks for sharing!
