01/10/21 - Psych Hospital 'splorin!

Another day, another hospital to explore. I tried to add some info to the pictures since it's something I've never done before. I hope you guys enjoy them!

I remember walking into this room and just looking around at all the scattered debris and the flipped-over desk and just enjoying how peaceful and quiet everything was in that place. It's amazing when you think 20+ years ago this place was full of doctors, patients, and visitors.

Near the main hall, I walked into what I could only assume was a child's hospital room since it had really cool murals painted on the walls. Surprisingly no one has destroyed it. But if they do I am glad I was able to document it before it happens. (There is another photo of it in one of my other posts if you're interested along with a few other shots from this location that I chose not to include in this thread.)

On our way out I snapped this shot. I saw the bright sunlight filling up the room and I loved the way it looked with all the paint chipping away and the dust floating in the air through the beams of sunlight coming through the windows.

No real story behind this shot, I just really love chipping paint.

This shot was taken inside one of the Maximum Security rooms at this psych hospital. We closed the door behind us and just again were overwhelmed with silence. Just the sound of wind coming through an open window every now and again. The silence was a far different experience than what the patients had when this facility was active.

#TBT Throwback Thursdays anyone?! Oh wait, it's Wednesday, nevermind. This relic was found on the desk of a nurse's station. I remember these when I was a kid and just had to take a shot of it, plus it kind of looked dope.

I couldn't imagine walking through these doors knowing it's gonna be a long while before I get to see freedom again. Unfortunately, I am sure most who walked through these doors had no idea what was going on or what was going to happen to them.

The stairway to heaven aka the exit. Exited with no issues to 'splore another day!

These are some great shots, #1 especially. I've heard the kids have been hard on this spot since the pandemic started, but you really bring out the beauty in it.

Thank you for that compliment!

Yeah, I agree 100%. It sucks that places like this are getting trashed a lot more and are getting super hot which sucks as well!

All we can do is keep documenting and 'splorin everything.

That rainbow room is incredible! Definitely agree about the chipping paint, something about it is so satisfying and the contrast and texture always make for great pics.

I love the picture in the maximum-security section looking out and up at the hospital. Loved all the pictures and your comments about all the activity going on in this place at one point, to be met with silence when we are there now (speaks volumes).
