At every winter’s end I do same mistake. Days are getting longer, weather warmer and our backyard’s snow melt down and even some grass can be seen. At that point I always start to dream about some really isolated, forgotten farm thinking how nice it would do some forest walking at same time too.
At this time I did choose this place that I did find last autumn, so this was my first return. It’s in the middle of small, one car wide road and at the end (far away) there is just one summer cottage; most probably that road would be un-snowplowed so peace couldn't get any deeper. Just 1 kilometer through forest there... not bad!
Hell yeah. I can tell it really was pretty bad with snow from knee high to even higher. Also top layer were at morning frozen – it didn’t break immediately but after letting weight on it enough. Also I did have to go around some deep ditches etc. so finally it was 1,5 kilometers to there and of course same back. And I can tell it really was god damned heavy sport!
And what comes to that peace… while photographing in that house (no need to mention that only way inside were maybe 40 cm wide (I mean narrow) road at the height of my shoulders) one old woman did ski by that road. I did fear that I could cause I heart attack to her if she would notice me – I’m 100% sure she didn’t expect that anybody could be even near that totally isolated farm at this point of year. But she didn’t notice me, so after all… I’m glad that I did get there.
