This empty, graffiti covered building in Milwaukee is the former Wisconsin Die Casting plant, a tool and machining parts foundry. According to a 2008 news article it closed with no warning- the workers just showed up one morning to find that they were jobless because "the money just wasn't there."

This is rather suspicious, considering the previous owner was convicted in 2005 of close to a dozen counts of embezzling from his employees health insurance funds and 401(k)s to the tune of $410,000. The company changed ownership and rebranded after his conviction, but nevertheless shut down three short years later.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Love the pictures and the find! After exploring this one, I looked up the property and it's for sale for a surprisingly small amount of money. Wondering if maybe the grounds are contaminated?

Interestingly enough, the DNR Remediation and Redevelopment Database shows this site as listed by 2 names, Badger Die Casting Corp., and Wisconsin Die Casting. Wisconsin Die Casting is listed as an "open" site, and Badger is listed as "closed". Based on that, not only is there remediation required as a condition of sale, but there has been remediation on this property in the past. It also shows as qualified for a Cleanup Grant through the US EPA Brownfield Grant Funding program. There is actually a lot of free money available for clean up for sites identified by the state and fed as contaminated.

TL; DR - Yes!
