After the endless challenge of finding a (legal?) parking spot, little_horns and a long time friend of mine made our way to Sportsman Island.
Originally built in 1949 as a park for the community to gather, the island stood for many years, featuring a picnic shelter, restrooms, and a ball field.
^ The original pedestrian bridge in 1949, replaced one year later with a bridge that could accommodate vehicle traffic.

However, in the early 80's the island saw its last breathe as a usable space, with the maintenance of the island being abandoned. Since then, it's been left for us to wander.
