Recently had the opportunity to explore the SCI Cresson Prison. It began as a tuberculosis sanatorium in 1913 then a state hospital and finally a state prison. Eventually would shut down in 2013 as the state citing the antiquity of the prison and rising costs of maintaining it as the primary reasons for the closure.

Here are a couple of my favorite photos, if interested in seeing more images, please visit https://www.jhmcre...CI-Cresson-Prison/

Thanks for looking everyone!

Cool shots. I was supposed to be there this past weekend too but didn't end up being able to make it.

Just so everyone is aware this property is no longer "abandoned". It has been purchased by an awesome group of people and is being used for several different things now. You can buy tickets to visit the still vacant parts of the property if you wish though. It's worth the money just to not have to hike in.

Wow all great shots! Love the outlines of handcuffs and scissors in the last pic. Looks like a cool place to check out.

Hands down, this is the most interesting prison set that I have ever seen posted! The variation of subject matter and composition is fantastic. The 8th shot (here in this thread) with all the chairs spaced out and facing forward is so intriguing. Thanks for posting the link to the rest of them. The basketball court shot with the spiral barbed wire in the background is absolutely awesome!

Awesome mood and lighting in all these. Love the blue and white checkered floor #4 and the look of the vacant sitting area in pic 11. The triangle sunlit spot on the floor makes a good shot and sets a lonesome tone as it was probably the only sunlight many of them saw for a long time.
