Yet another spot pretty much everyone who explorers in Wisconsin has heard of. This dead mall closed in 2003 and ever since then has been a beacon for urbex in this state. Up until very recently it had cameras, alarms, and a 24/7 guard that made it a difficult nut to crack for many in the region. Though it periodically experienced brief bouts of fame on Instagram and Youtube as new PoEs were found, those were inevitably sealed shortly afterwards and the mall would fade into the background until the cycle continued.

It was infrequently used for airsoft events until a maintainence contractor was fatally electrocuted in 2019, and in May 2021 a judge signed off on a demolition order because the mall is "dangerous." With the demolition order signed, all security was pulled as of a few months ago. That was the perfect opportunity to make my move and explore it.

My buddy and I got iside with no problems, a story that vexxed another friend when I shared the story with him (his one attempt ended in him being escorted out at gunpoint by the cops). In fact, we ran into no issues whatsoever until we reached the roof and we heard a continuous beeping sound as soon as he lifted a hatch, which we thought was an alarm. It was only after sprinting across the entire mall and out into the parking lot that we realized the beeping noise was a rookie trucker practicing backing up in the parking lot.

If you somehow still don't know which mall I'm talking about, this iconic shot should clear up any doubt.

I was chased out of this place by wannabe gang banger turdlingers a couple years back. Was a less than pleasant experience, but made it out unscarred and with my possessions. Never cared to return after that.

Nice work Aran! Considering how long it has been empty, it's surprising it isn't even more trashed than it is, but perhaps you left that off lens. I always b-line for utility areas, back halls, and pipe chases in a big structure like this. Not sure why. Guess I'm weird that way....

Nice set. The 4th picture is one of the few where the graffiti actually somewhat adds to it.

I think I know what mall this is. Is this the one that has an active store still attached (but walled off from the mall)? Or am I thinking another midwest dead mall? And pretty sure the entire lower level is a cinema.

dsankt: In fact, the day I die yall are welcome to form an orderly queue and run a train on my eye sockets. I'll be dead and frankly, will not give a f*ck.
budda: That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fuck me sideways this is insane.

Yeah, pretty sure you're thinking of the right mall. There is a cinema on the lower level but it's pretty much empty. Supposedly it's been repeatedly used as a gang killing body dump too, but that's just a rumor.

Also, was here over the weekend and had this same thing happen. Amazing what the acoustics (or lack thereof) are like in this place.

Yeah, it really does sound like an alarm, right? How long did it take you to realize it was a trucker? I didn't realize until I was already out, but I'd seen everything I wanted to so I didn't bother going back in.

This is super cool. Been looking for more dead malls in my area in WI, because that seems to be all there is in terms of abandoned places around me. Lots of new developments are ripping places like this to shreds. Safe travels!

That's hilarious! No models at this mall when we went, though I'd put money on the probability people have modeled here before.
