The Mill

Tonight I visited a place in central Denver that seemed to be abandoned and I happened to be right. From my research and prepping for this location I happened to notice that from the assessor's office for the County of Denver and it told me that the location I was headed to used to be used for industrial printing and had a total square footage of 299,498 square feet of space. The assessors office website also showed me what the property cost to acquire and what it was assessed for this year. This year the property cost/actual price was $49,053,900 but was assessed for a value of $14,225,630. That was some interesting information to learn and when I had arrived to my surprise the map images and street views that I could get made it look like a one to two story building but it was much bigger than that it was three floors total with lots of HVAC and A/C as well as fire suppression equipment on the top floor so basically a maintenance level. I learned that the fire suppression for this building was a CO2 system which I thought was pretty neat. When I began to explore the other levels it honestly seemed like they didn't end and that they just kept going. I explored all of the floors and took plenty of pictures. I think the coolest thing that I saw inside the structure was a track system for carts or something embedded in the floor as well as a large freight elevator on one end of the building. Also, during this explore I met two people that were homeless and were just rummaging around the building. I chatted with them for a while on the top level and then continued on with my exploration. I met back up with the woman who was there on the bottom floor and her and I had a great conversation about abandoned buildings and other structures and places that she has been while being homeless. After finishing my exploring of the bottom floor I decided it was time to head home as this was my second location of the day and had been there for about 2-3 hours. Definitely a great place for me to go during the daytime as this was an evening/night explore. Pictures to come soon
