I was working on an article about terrible Korean apartment names (and design), and one example was a Lotte Castle that had giant shapes on the side in the shape of dicks. I thought I'd gone there and taken pictures, but couldn't find them in my archives. Deadline was looming, so even though it was raining I headed out to get a picture in person.
1. Thar they blow, but I'll need to get to a better spot than this to get a publishable photo.
2. I took this picture from across the street but wasn't satisfied.
3. The best way to shoot them would be to get up high enough myself. There was one building about 14 floors high that was in the right position.
4. But when I got there, the door was closed.
5. Oh wait, shit, that means I have to urban explore it.
6. I took an external staircase up, due to the sounds of workers somewhere inside. There was all sorts of junk left on the stairs, but this was the only thing that really caught my eye.
7. Mission accomplished.
8. Then I turned around and noticed the roof was overlooking the river.
9. In the other direction is a swimming pool.
10. I went back later on a clear day.
11. This time there were no workers other than one security guard out front, so I did try looking around inside more.
12. Rooms were smaller than I expected, and most were empty.
13. You're welcome!
14. I had really been hoping to get a good shot of the north side where I live this time, but it was already in shadow by 4:30. I really don't want to end up doing this climb a third time.
15. Fortunately golden hour wasn't that far off.
16. But have you heard of pink hour?
17. As soon as the direct sunlight was gone, it looked a lot nicer.
18. As it got darker, my exposures got longer.
19. And longer.
20.
