My wife knows this lady who she met at a parenting group for new moms (which she went to twice). She was immediately added on Facebook, and started receiving invites for her Scentsy bullshit, crystal workshops, etc. Next it was a Gofundme so her husband could start a woodworking business, and then a Gofundme so she could start making her own artisanal butter.

Today she launched a Gofundme- in memory of a local young lady who died giving birth last year- but for herself! Her reasoning behind this is the lady who passed away had never been financially stable, until a short time before her death, and she doesn't feel she should have to go through this either, even though she's not ill, nor is she expecting another child. Personally, I can't believe the fucking nerve she has, but hey, people are contributing.

My friend Gerald passed away, and he always wanted a Datsun 240z. Should I start a Gofundme in his memory since I also would like a 240z and I'm also going to die some day?

I think it has its purposes and stuff (especially when one is created to benefit someone else who has fallen on hard times), but when you're making them for yourself like this lady "just because some extra cash would be really helpful", maybe it's time to admit your dream of running two businesses probably wasn't a great idea, and get a fucking job.

But there are too many that have latched onto the nipple of human kindness for me to bother if I don't know them. They've ruined it for everyone.
