It's not too surprising. I remember in 2017 all my Russian friends were pretty favourable toward Trump, even the smart, liberal ones, because they all thought if Clinton won then the US and Russia would have immediately gone to war with each other. And one of them was an actual ex-neo-nazi (which is a big thing in Russia). They've since all moved away.
