I made a post a while back
about urban exploring dogs, mentioning two friends had rescued a dog literally from traffic and ended up keeping him.
I got a chance to meet him a couple weekends ago. He's already explored a few abandonments, but this was his first time rooftopping and exploring tunnels, completing the UE trifecta. Next time, we'll climb a crane together.
1. Here he is with his human dad, who is a lapsed member of UER who wrote about the day in his own perspective
here.
2. We decided to see what he would think about a closed tunnel through a mountain.
3. Does he look scared?
4. We came out the other side.
5. He got to play fetch.
6. Slipping through a construction fence.
7. A drink of water.
8. We stopped by a schoolyard for a look at this 1911-built school building. Not really urban exploring, but someone at the gate caught the dog and sent him out.
9. So...he was sort of urban exploring?
10. Next, we went to an abandoned slum, where he was at first afraid to come up on the roof.
11. Now he's rooftopping.
12. We also went to an abandoned Chondoist temple.
13. At the top of the hill was this old green building, which had since been turned into a dog sanctuary. At first, the people there thought we were bringing them another dog.
14. All dogs there are medium and large breeds, which are very unpopular for adoption here.
15. I managed to get permission to see inside, and two of us entered with a guide. Note the very old heater to the left. It was very loud and smelly.
16. My previous visit was in
2010, before the dog sanctuary had moved in.
17. I ended up using this picture for
an article about the shelter's impending eviction.
18. We all reassembled outside afterward.
