I am planning on going on my first exploration of a building soon with one of my pals. It is going to be an abandoned rail yard. Does anyone have advice as to how to do this?

Don't get caught.

But seriously, you're overthinking it. Go check it out. Keep out of sight from nearby roads/buildings and where you can't do that, walk like you're supposed to be there. Watch out for structural hazards and cameras, take lots of photos, and if it looks like security or cops are on their way get out.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

There is the slight problem that it is right next to a road, and an active train station :/

If there's high visibility from the road, it might be best to go at night. But scout it out during the day, and around evening, to see if any lights turn on revealing security or worker locations.

You're thinking too hard.

Go out and have fun.

To think of all the crappy places I explored as a kid and never even thought to take a picture.

If it's in a high traffic area get an orange vest and a hardhat. Then just act like you're there with a purpose. Between city workers, utility workers, property workers, contractors and property brokers it's not unusual for employees to not know what's going on in a large property or facility.

Thank you for the advice, I will make sure to have objects to show purpose.
