These photos were from my second urbex venture on March 11, 2022. This is Plaza Tower in New Orleans, the 5th tallest abandoned building in the world! It was abandoned in 2002 due to mold and asbestos. As it stands, it's both the third tallest building in New Orleans and the entire state of Louisiana.

Plaza Tower: all 531 feet of it! :0

The view from halfway up (or halfway down, I suppose) - if you look at the first photo of the entire building, this is the view from the landing on the left. Hello Superdome!

Anybody up for a swim??

All of these were taken on a cheap disposable camera (if that isn't obvious), and I also have an urbex instagram - @lonelystarurbex

I also vlogged the experience, if anybody wants to make the trek up many, MANY flights of stairs with me. (After this experience, I think I can safely say I am THE stair master.)

This tower looks so post-apocalyptic. Well done.

Crazy that such a tall building is completely abandoned and crumbling. I wonder how long before they finally tear it down.

I see some laundry hanging over the empty pool. I imagine you ran into a few people taking residence there?

Thank you! It's definitely very spooky, I'd have to agree.

Shockingly, we didn't - there were a few floors that were definitely camps, but I was very surprised that we didn't see anyone??

Per the Wiki page: "construction of the Plaza Tower began in 1964". That is so fucked up, that this project absolutely refuses to be rendered viable nearly 60 years later.

Thanks for sharing.

Abandoned skyscrapers are always a treat. Awesome find!

The parking garage (where you'll probably find it easiest to enter through) has a concrete barricade at the top that I wasn't tall enough to get up the side of without a boost from my friend, and the way we got through to the pool on the way down (we couldn't find the entrance on the way up, so there might be another one) also required some getting boosted over a crumbling staircase. Nothing crazy, but I guess that depends how tall you are - I'm 5'7" for reference.

Also (obviously) a high possibility for squatters - VERY surprised we didn't run into any. Fires have to be put out there pretty frequently, so I think the only reason we didn't is because there had been one very recently before we went; we found lots of camps. Lots of needles. And mold and asbestos obviously, lol

Debris fell from the tower last year and injured a bike rider, so they had to secure nets to the top!
