Do you have some photos of a place that has since disappeared?

I recently heard that one of my favourite abandoned houses has collapsed and has been bulldozed. I spent over a year researching and getting permission to photograph it, and I believe I was the last person ever to set foot in the upstairs rooms in the 200+ years the house stood.

It made me think of how many places I've explored over the years that are totally gone now.

Below is a collection of the locations that I know for sure are gone. I have many good memories in these places and they've given me some iconic photos.

I've chosen one photo from each location, although some of them I've spent days in and taken hundreds of photos.

Thanks for viewing! If you have some pictures of a beloved place that's no longer with us, feel free to post it below.

I actually went through a lot of my older stuff a couple of years back and came to the depressing realisation that almost everything I explored in my first 3-4 years of exploring is now gone.

When I've got a bit of time to spare I'll dig through them and find some highlights.

It's a sad topic, but looking through your pics, it reminds me that one of the best reasons to take part in this hobby is the knowledge that the places we explore won't be there forever. In the end, our photos may be the last way for the curious to see what it was like. There's a bittersweet feeling looking at pics of a place that's gone, yet here we are still appreciating them.

Absolutely, we've all got important pictoral and historical records of places that are completely erased from existence nowadays.

I had a look through my albums and pulled out some of the locations that hurt the most to see demolished, but the fact I have photos of them is very important even if the early, early shots I took are crap - I will still forever have the memories of these places.

I could go on...there's probably more that I missed but I only looked up to 2014.

Thanks for sharing your great photos, guys. I've always felt this is a big part of why I do what I do.

Only a few spend enough time doing this majority either get demolished set on fire or left to fall down or get e emergency demo order issued. All our early shots are crap unless you where a photographer prior to exploring i learned both at same time........still learning

It was a small spot (other sections were demolished before my time), but I still wish I could go back. I already posted a pic of part of the basement mural along with a historical photo above.

Kept meaning to come back to this one to do a victory lap. I had no idea there were plans to demolish it until I found the demolition video online.
