Biked with some old friends who were back home for a bit to an old barn I'd seen from a distance. Ended up finding what appears to have once been an entire homestead, including some sort of small quarry. The barn was the only remaining structure, with only the burnt remains of a farmhouse, a collapsed woodshed, and an outhouse accompanying it. A number of old vehicles and bits of wreckage and machinery were strewn around.

Inside the barn were a number of old crates, furniture, and farm equipment, such as the remains of a wagon and combine harvester. Sadly hadn't brought a flashlight or my camera because I wasn't expecting to find any path of access to the barn interior, but I did take some photos on my phone. They didn't come out so great because it is impossible to see my phone screen in bad light.

Given the land prices of the surrounding area and the new housing developments around this old farm, I suspect it will soon disappear. Research suggests it was a homestead belonging to the Croak family from at least 1878 to 2013.

My friends found the place neat as well, but weren't expecting any barbed-wire fence bypassing and may or may not join me on future explores. If anyone's in the Tri-Valley or has any suggestions on places in the area hmu

trying out a new image hosting thing I've never done before, fingers crossed it works!

Think so, there was also this other burned out Jeep Cherokee near the rubble from the old house.

Nice shots, especially of the old cars!

There are a couple articles around suggesting near-future development. The nearby developments look like a wave breaking across the hills.

Google sat view still shows the house.

yeah, I didn’t want to give away the exact location on a public thread but there are some housing and land sales planned. One of the local firefighting agencies uploaded a video to their twitter as well showing the house burning in a three alarm fire, it was relatively recently so I’m not surprised GMaps still shows the house. Really sad that such a cool place burned but I suppose it was destined for the bulldozer anyways, for all I know the landowner might’ve been trying to squeeze some insurance money out of the property before it all gets torn down anyways for new development. I like exploring these places but I do understand there’s a need for high density housing in the region and it’s gotta be built somewhere.

I can't wait for this housing bubble to burst and all the tech companies to leave for other states.

I had to twist and turn that view so there wasn't a road name or address shown, but naming the family made it easy to find.

I've seen this place a couple of times, but I'm always sketched out about going onto land like that. I never know if it's abandoned or just a hills have eyes type situation lol.

Is the car in the 4th pick just rusted to hell and back or is it burned out too? Depending on how hard it is to get there and its condition, I might try to turn it into a dirt track car.

I'd burn this whole town if it wasn't for my mama's house.

Idk for sure, but I'm pretty sure it burned. Apart from the questionable legality and ethicality of taking it (pretty sure that's theft or vandalism and against general urbex conduct, though if it'll all be bulldozed anyways, ig it doesn't make a difference), the only road to the site is abandoned and closed off at all ends to car entry with barriers/guardrails, so there'd be no way to get the car out.

I debated putting the name, but I figured it's a neat detail and the whole place will be gone soon regardless.

True! I'm always skittish visiting these kinds of semi-rural places cause my mind conjures up images of some old-time rancher or redneck using me as a target or dragging me into their Pulp Fiction pawnshop basement. My only troubles have been from coyotes and guard-dogs though (and in the guard-dog incident, the owner was nice n said he was fine with us exploring but couldn't control his dog)

do you have a helicopter with a giant claw/rope? or do you just plan to steal the car outright?
