A Fire Truck, 270 Miles From Home

I was walking around the local yard waste dump(as one does) recently and I found three things of note. A deer skeleton, a 50-foot pile of leaves, and a fire truck. The truck was interesting because it was old. My guess would be not older than the 70s, but the little sticker on the windshield said 2007, so that was probably the last year it was driving around. The cab was unlocked, so of course I climbed inside and made fire truck noises while pretending I was driving it. It was a stick shift. The most interesting thing about it was that it wasn't from Essex County, or even New Jersey. It was all the way from Atkinson, NH, 270 miles away. I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. Maybe someone bought it and drove it over here. Maybe there was some sort of fire truck show and Atkinson didn't bother to take it back. Maybe it was a getaway vehicle in an elaborate heist that was abandoned and left to molder in a lot who who knows how long. I dunno, but it's cool.

Here's some photos:

inside the drivers door on the post (where the seatbelt would be) there should be a manufacturers sticker telling you the exact year this Mack was made.

These old Engines sometimes sit for years in storage or out in a field someplace until a retiree takes it upon themself to track it down and use it as a restoration side project or nostalgia. Either way it was used to save and aid lives in its heyday. Great find and very much appreciated post on my end out here in SF.

here in my area, there are at least three collectors of old fire apparatus... and they sit in a field until they get around to them. By my favorite custom shop, there are like ten old pumpers just sitting, a couple from the mill I used to work at... pics if i decide to leave the house any time soon.

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

whoa... definitely a fan of the rectangular, boxy ones that are more common these days, but the rounded edges have their own appeal. The skeleton is pretty cool as well
