Originally it was Yota, but he stepped down from the admin role and handed the server off to Wei. Both of them are still pretty active on it though!

I gave up after it wouldn't let me join for whatever reason that may be.

They have to produce a new valid link that doesn't have an expiration date. Or your account has not been verified. One other thing is your account age. Level 2 discord restriction prevents new accounts from joining if I remember correctly

Yeah, that was a rule we all agreed upon from the start, he was just enforcing it. Between the blatant lawbreaking discussions and overly descriptive conversations about certain members sexscapades, it's not exactly a server prone to family friendly conversations and nobody wants a corruption of a minor charge.

Probably because it's an old site and (aside from that hacker incident a few months ago) the verification process hasn't been updated since the early 2000s. It's been years since I registered so my memory could be faulty, but I'm not even sure UER has a captcha.

I suspect these bots are just trawling internet sites by the thousands at a time and spamming anything with low enough verification security to let them through. One or two people clicking a link (and driving advertisement profits) adds up when you're spamming thousands of sites at once, and quantity is a quality of its own in business.
