My oldest kid (Sarah) is almost 6, and is absolutely obsessed with pointing out every abandoned farmhouse she sees, and asks if we can go in it. Oddly enough, I've never mentioned my former hobby to her, but I suppose the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree... she's also obsessed with vintage Volkswagens.

Think there's any harm in taking her to a local one I'm familiar with? I don't want a child endangerment charge but it's close enough to home we could say we're looking for our cat (and teach her to lie at an early age).
