I'm scared of the dark apparently

Hey guys :3

Not the most exciting thread but I went back to McAllister Ranch and took some pictures to share. This time, I went there at night (mistake) and got lectured by my girlfriend (funny) while walking to the clubhouse. I got about 3 steps into the basement and chickened out. Call me a pansy but I'm not about to throw hands with the homeless crack addict hiding in the dark or take a ghost home with me.

Quick shots of the basement. Didn't step any further in than this. Too spooky.

The real reason I went back to the ranch at all. Place was already tagged all to hell, so I decided to leave a mark for the first time. A bunny on the doorframe of the basement and a little cat on the top.

My takeaway from this experience: bring a friend to hide behind/use as a sacrifice.

I don't think it really matters that the place was already tagged to hell. Pretty much any form of vandalism is extremely frowned upon in this community, and the fact you purposely carried paint on you just to do that is a shiny example of who shouldn't really be here. Sure, it's small and harmless, but it's possible that habit will continue and then you'll become the rotten egg here.

both trespassing and misdemeanor-level graffiti can carry penalities of up to $1,000 dollars in fines and anywhere between 6 months to a year in county jail as per the California Penal Code. so my tagging isn't really small and harmless, it's about as big a deal as entering private property without permission, which I also did. but one of them is deemed appropriate by the community, and the other apparently isn't.

please don't try to lecture me on what you think the "right way" to explore is. they're both crimes. I don't know what weird set of rules you abide by where some offenses are okay and some are frowned upon but that's your set of rules, not mine. if you don't like it then don't interact with me :3

if you wanna talk about who shouldn't really be here, it's probably the guy who combs UER looking for rookies to put down because they broke some arbitrary rule, not the one who paints cats on walls.

Take a look at my profile. I'm probably more of a rookie than you. If you can't handle the urge to vandalize a building, I suggest you leave the paint at home and grow a pair. Just because many of us commit crime to explore doesn't mean we lack honor and this site is just some place to show our wrongdoings. Vandalizing lacks honor and is extremely disrespectful and is the reason why places get boarded up, demolished, or just fucking destroyed by vandals. I'm not lecturing how you should explore, either. If you want to keep a name for yourself on this site and not get into legal trouble for having spray paint, I recommend sucking it up and stop trying to argue back, or else your days here are numbered.

Also, if you think not vandalizing is an "arbitrary" rule and that I've been some internet troll trying to get a laugh, you should learn some common decency. Just because I'm arguing with you doesn't automatically make me the bad guy, and it sure as shit doesn't mean I'm the one not welcome here. You're breaking some of the very foundations of the UE community and acting proud of it. Hell, you even called your little bunny and cat "not small and harmless" like you know you're doing something wrong. Get a grip and stop being a manchild.

You're right, there is no right way to explore. However, isn't it courteous to not vandalize property? Sure both trespassing as well as vandalizing are illegal practices, but in the context of urban exploration, one is simply exploring and taking photos without malicious or destructive intent. You chose to post this on here, so why are you mad when you receive backlash? I sure wonder why exploring without messing with things is deemed appropriate and vandalizing isn't.
