I've recently changed jobs myself. I'm now a PSAP operator/dispatcher in Toronto. It's pretty hectic sometimes, but it's a step in the right direction towards my goal of becoming an EMD.

Hello from an EMD in Orlando, FL. I used to work with someone who dispatched for Toronto. Pretty busy.

It definetely stays busy around here. I work for fire rescue and answer 911, tactical radio and the county MedCom.

Hit me up and we'll compare notes sometime.

I have certification for Tower Safety & Rescue. Any broadcast or cell tower that you see in your city/country are always maintained by tower climbers and riggers.

In the event of someone not being 100% tied-off (connected to the tower at all times) and falls or becomes stuck on the tower, people like myself will respond and rescue them. Much more efficient than your local FD or EMT rescuers as we're trained specifically for that kind of event (no hard feelings...).

You can find more info at ComTrain LLC, NATE, and Wireless Estimator.

To update my qualifications:

NYS EMT-B
NWCG Wildland Firefighter Type II (End class on Sunday)

I'm now a road-certified medic, have about 500 calls under my belt, and around 2200 hours volunteer in the past two years.

I also just joined a Wildland SAR group.

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop...

since i dont give a damn anymore, I did 3 years as a class per with cansofcom.

I learned medicine to something approximating CCP, lots of hostage rescue stuff, self defense, survival, escape, mall arms trg, larger arm trg, and basically how to walk into a mongolian cluster fuck, unfuck it, and walk back out.

that time is over now. I felt liek blowing a bit of pretty anon cover.

pm if you want more (but still vague for opsec and persec, details)

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws."

I'm a security manager for a large evil Swedish furniture store, I provide first aid/ CPR for accidents and brawls in the store (people get into a lot of fights over dining room tables). I'm also finishing up my masters in herbal medicine so I'm into first aid using plants (obviously).

Fire/EMT here.

I started volunteering right after high school at the local station. I had no idea at that time nor a want to make it a career but that is what developed out of it. I work for a neighboring town and still volunteer locally. 8 years now or fire service.

The shift work is giving me lots of time for exploring now.
