Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

| | | To get things started... A poll! Wee! What’s your favourite RPG system, and why? D&D is close to my heart, simply because of it’s familiarity and fantasy setting. I’m not keen on hyperrealistic systems like Harn, where a drunken hobo with a stick could kill you with a poke in the bum. You’re supposed to be a hero! You can be hacked and slashed, drink a potion and be back in the action in less than 10 seconds! A close second run various superhero games like Marvel and Silver Age Sentinels. I love SAS’s character generation, it’s so customizable it’s scary. Sure, it takes 2 days to roll up a hero, but if you want a hero made out of blue rock who can spit cheese out of his ass, fly, and wears a magic helmet that allows him to log on to the internet from whereever he is, you can do it. Tied with superhero games runs the D20 Star Wars system. ‘Nuff said. How ‘bout some others? C.

| | | "Vampire" falls under "White Wolf". White Wolf produced games like Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, those sorts of things. I guess I should have added "LARP" to the list, too, because I suppose that counts as an RPG, even though it's not a tabletop. I played a bit of Palladium, like TMNT and Heroes Unlimited, but I didn't like the percentile system the way they did it. I did, however, like the percentile system of Top Secret S.I. D20 Modern allows for the kind of cross-genre gaming that you're talking about, BPM. Technically, you could have a gun-toting Merc from Iowa, a drow mage and a Mon Calamarian Jedi running around together on the moon. C.
