burn the .cue with nero to a cd, remember you have to burn it as a bootable cd. Then it will work.

Need some help here. I mounted the ISO and got the game installed, but when I try to run it I am told I need the CD. Okay, there was a cracked .exe that was supposed to solve this, problem is, I cannot copy/paste the cracked .exe into the main .exe because I am told that the .exes are read-only files and nothing can be moved. Really want to play this game because I remember when the demo came out and I played and really enjoyed it. NEED HELP, PLEASE!!!

maybe try a new ISO? I'm pretty much as clueless as you are.

ok, now i have the same problem as BPM....

Right click in the .exe and go to properties. There should be a checkbox called "Read-Only" Uncheck it. If that doesn't fix it, go up one level and right click on the folder containing the .exes, repeat. Give that a shot.

BPM, Village Idiot... you may need a newer/better crack. You can get one at www.gamecopyworld.com . Choose a mirror, then bring up the PC Game Index. Before you get one though, patch the game to the latest version. Then apply the crack that corresponds with that version.

And don't forget to get the Mod Manager and the TNG Mod - you need the TNG mod for Freelancer in order to play on my server. You can get them both from

What extension does the file have? ISO? MDS? BIN? Knowing that could help.

Is it just bin? Does it have a .cue file as well?

Yes, has .cue also.

Start up Daemon tools. Put on all the emultation options, then mount the game. Install it. The installer will either come up when you mount it, or you'll have to browse the CD image to look for it. Should be setup.exe or something like that. Once it installs, crack the .exe in the main directory that the game installed into.

I finally got it to work. Deleted the .exe in the game directory on my hard drive and replaced it with the cracked .exe. From there it works... Thank you everyone that helped me out.

Yep thats what I was going to say to do. You copy the cracked .exe from the CD image, paste it to the game's main folder, overwriting the old one. If you need to update the game, get the patch, then get a cracked .exe that corresponds to the version you updated to.

...and then install "The Next Generation" mod version 2.6.5 and jump on my Freelancer server.
