So when I was getting my nice shiney copy of GTA: San Andreas the women behind the counter gave me a look once over and asked me for ID. I gave this empty look and said "Are you kidding me?" she refused to sell me the game with out ID. I don't carry ID on me at most times. A Social Insurance Card... Student Cards... Debit... that's it. She was prudent that I needed some ID like a driver licence or a health card.

Shiroi was with me at the time and he showed his ID proving he was infact 20... she kinda cowered back and sold me the game. I talked to her a bit later and she said they got a memo ordering them to ID everyone who wanted a copy of Halo 2 or GTA.

The thing is... I am 18... >_< I need to get my G1 or bring my health card with me or something.

Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

I don't have a problem with this. I think this should have been the case years ago. Of course... I'm 31 so it doesn't affect me at all. With the amount of violence and blood and gore in games these days, I'm glad they're ID'ing people - because parents don't seem to be responsible enough to make sure they know what their kids are into.

Hell, they ID people for movies and strip clubs, why not violent video games? Seems natch to me.

Yeah but... half the time parents rent these games or buy these games FOR their kids, games such as Resident Evil, GTA, Manhunt, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, etc. because kids don't have money... for instance when I first heard of the law (that said it was happening January) it mentioned that it would be too late to stop kids from buying games at Christmas... but... no kids really buy their own games at Christmas.

(Hey, technically I shouldn't of had the problem either, I'm legal age...)

if their parents want to buy them, that's fine. Just like any parent can take their kid to a movie rated R.

Well to be fair also a lot of parents don't even know what they're buying. The kids ask for a game and the parents go out and buy it. Some of these parents are the same people who wander by the tv see them gunning down soldiers in online combat and freak out.

That is a gross generalization.

I'm sure it happens, but hey the parent has no one to blame to themselves. I rather that be the case than have them bitching at congress again.

Well... I know my parents have no fucking clue what games I own and most of them they purchased for me. When I was younger they had no problem playing games like Resident Evil but again, they didn't know what Resident Evil was until the movie came out.

A lot of friends parents were in the same boat kinda like "What are you playing?" when they got the game for em.

And I dunno but when I was twelve I didn't have the money to pick me a copy of Halo 2 or Grand Theft Auto, or whatever other games are violent these days, it was my parents that got me the games, its a generalization but not an unfair one to make.
