Yeah, the only reason I got into them(lynard skynard(sp?)) was their guitar solo in "Free Bird."

Meat Puppets aren't country, but they do kick so much ass I just fell out of my chair, lost control of my bodily functions, and had vivid hallucinations.

Sometimes, you need to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who it is you're talking to. Then, on your way out, slam the door.

Steve Earle, eh? Now you're talking, THD!

If you've never heard of him, I suggest you check into Fred Eaglesmith. He writes and sings songs about farms, tractors, machinery, broken hearts, filling stations, desperate men and old flames.

His most recent album (Dusty) sucks ass in a big way, but the one before that (Balin') is a piece of Bluegrass art. Give 'The Rocket' a listen and see if that doesn't bring a tear to your eye. The album Things Is Changin' is also a very fine way to introduce yourself to his songwriting skills.

A mighty, mighty fine Canadian songwriter, and a kick-ass entertainer to boot!

Jesus, it's LynYrd SkynYrd...

I have Steve Earle "Copperhead Road" and it definitely screams to be played at "11"!!!

Other than that, I really don't care for country.

I was raised on Lynyrd Skynyrd. And CCR and the Allmans. Used to love that shit to the point of ear damage, but the yuppies and their penchant for living in the past killed it all for me. I can't tune into the local dino-rock radio station anymore for fear of puking if they play Sweet Home Alabama one more time.

Guys, if you're into file sharing and want to expand your Steve Earle collections a bit, check into the "Heavy Metal Bluegrass" recording. It's a live set of about 30 songs recorded in Zurich (I think) circa El Corazon. It's the best thing Steve Earle never released. Steve at his live, loud, sloppy and sober best!

May the wind take your troubles away.
