is there any new intell on acsys? i haven't looked into that place in a while..the last time i checked they were about to close the doors and auction all the machinery! i haven't drove by that place in a couple of weeks but every time i do that place looks fully in use! i can't wait to pay the acsys building a little visit.

they cleared out on nov 29th or so. The place is boarded up in parts, tarps over the fences, no security, ripe for the pickins

i'm going to have to pay that place visit in the next couple of days! i'll be back with some new info and pics in a couple of days!

I went there this afternoon and spent about three hours inside before I met up with two security guards. Apparently they noticed my tracks in the snow and decided to go inside and see what they could find. They were nice enough and let me off with just a warning, but it kinda sucks that I can't go back there for a while now. The guy said that the last time they had an "intruder" they brought the dogs in with them. I don't know if he was BS'ing me or not but it's something to keep in mind.

Lots to see inside though, most of which is still intact. The place is huge. Right now it looks like they're just getting ready to auction things off and it looks like there's a demo crew there during the week.

Nice pics micro, I was gonna take some on boxing day but my camera seems to be toast <: ( Note to self: step in micro's tracks.

Or wait until the weekend when it's supposed to get pretty warm out. Maybe some of the snow will have melted then. I went over the gate that's closest to the corner of William and Ritson which is kind of exposed to an adjacent property where the demo crew (and possibly security) have their trailers set up. Another thing to keep in mind is that the section with the gate that's along the residential street (basically the customer entrance) is being used by the demo company as a bit of a staff area. It's the only section of the plant where the heat's on, a radio was playing and I saw a paper from last Friday. Incidentally, it was in the main hallway there where I got caught. So you might want to avoid that part of the building.

It was originally the GM North plant, or part of it, but it changed hands a few times. they made certain car parts like bumpers and stuff, just a feeder plant. it just recently closed down.

looks like the place is being demo'd, better get your exploring in well it still stands, luckily i got in there twice, once with just my crew and once with Av, Roadwolf and part of my crew! Security i pretty slacking(figures since its group 4), but they do drive around in the main factory on a golf cart..lol!!
The catwalk that joined the east building and the main building is now gone!

had a close call there tonight. TMac and I went to check the place out after the bar tonight, around 5am. We were on the main floor when the golf cart came around, they drove by us literally 15-20 feet away. we were just coming off the roof on our way out and as soon as we got on the ground floor TMac's like "I hear someone moving..." and I look over to where he's looking and see these headlights coming around the corner. We were right by where we came in, and we just crouched behind a 3" wide pole for cover : D Security drove right by, didn't even glance over in our direction. i was watching the side of the guy's face literally the whole time. Then they took off to another part of the main floor and we bolted to the exit. It's a pretty damn cool place and I'm glad I have a car that works again so I could FINALLY check it out. We barely even touched the place, we didn't even have a flashlight. we traversed this huge chute from the roof with nothing but cell phones for light. Of course when we got to the bottom it was nothing but a death drop so it was a waste of time to boot.

EDIT: I dunno how I managed to forget this, i don't know if anyone else noticed it, but the golf cart that security drives around in is a first aid cart. The whole thing's white with a little red cross on the back quarter panel. i thought it was kinda funny

wasnt it a green cross on the cart? we actually had a close call with the cart aswell... it might of been red, maybe i am thinking of a first aid box i saw or something?

lol..i remember that Roadwolf!! Yeah its a red cross on the front of a white golf cart, i wouldn't worry to much about it because its Group 4 and there a living joke! Over half the people that work for group 4 are corrupted,irrational,have no common sence and don't know shit all about the security business...special that short,old guy, with bottle glasses, his a fucking dumbass and he should be fired or tranfered to protecting the gumball machines out front of zellars cause thats all his good for..lol! Oh how i love Group 4! But anyways back on topic security theres is abit tighter(like they do more rounds on the golf cart..lol)So just keep your senses on full alert,dance around security and have fun exploring!!

I just took some Black and White exteriors today. The negatives look good but my teacher has them till Thursday. once I get some printed I'm going to scan them and make a DB entry for Acsys. With it's history as the GM North Plant it's something I'd like to see preserved long after the demise of the property itself. It's been a huge part of Durham Region since the day the doors opened and I know it's responsible for my family's livelihood as well as countless others in the area. By 2007 those familiar smokestacks of the powerhouse will be forever felled like mighty redwood being shorn from the countryside in the name of a new mini-mall. Get in while you can and relish every last inch of the place and just try and think of how many lives have been through that building. How many and how diverse the stories are that once resonated in it's cavernous walls. Oh and if you see security tell them to eat a bag of dicks.

Sweet, there have got to be a lot of pretty cool places in the Shwa, enough old industry and general decay there...

Not Really....a lot of it gets remodeled or torn down pretty quick or still has alarms hooked up!
