You should have black hair, I like black hair! But I don't know if it would look good on you! I don't even know what color my hair is, neither do my friends it're pretty funny, but I want my black hair back!

I actually like it as is, but blue w/black would be all right. Black and red is super trendy. So is black and pink.

If you do dreds you actually want to start short. The part you weave is not actually a dred lock. The part that grows out and knots itself is. They take years of growing, sitting, and not washing to really dred. The bit that comes from some beauty salon is only really a mockery of a dredlock. And with straight hair, depending on how thin, you will have to wait a LONG time for your hair to truly dred.

I've had most every color and combo with the exception of orange. Probably because my natural red hair was too orange for my liking. I had rainbow hair for the longest time...pink bangs back to purple, blue, green and yellow in the back with no orange. I had it shaved about 3 inches above my ears all the way around the back...kinda like a rainbow toupe. Now I'm old and it's all just a memory...

go for the locks!
i've had dreads for about 4 1/2 years total, although they were cut off at one point (fucking retail job, good thing im not still stuck there, lol). they definitely turn heads, hehehe, especially when they are adorned with color and glass beads and other fun stuff. they are also super easy to clean and care for.

ciao

I don't know about you, but every time I've had dreads my scalp takes a beating. I would usually grow them out for a year or two, then hack them off. The last time my head never really recovered. I still have a flakey spot on the back (currently trying dandruff shampoo to see if that helps)

Maybe I just yanked too hard every time they tried to grow together. I usually bled a lot after doing that.

woo. I'm so happy my hair is being dyed BLACK. Yes... I do not have black hair, infact my hair is light brown and has been for about 8 years. People actually thinks its my natural hair color. All this bleaching and crap is damaging my hair a ton, funny because after I dye my hair black, it's probably going to be blonde in 6 months.

I had 2 sets of dreads, too. Shaved ~3" above my ears around the back. ...down to my shoulders...I still have both sets in a box somewhere...minus one lock...my dad wanted one. I had glass beads and stuff in mine. I'm a white guy (naturally red/auburn wavy hair).

My wife and I adopted 2 black (not bi-racial) kids with very kinky hair. We've been talking about starting dreads with their hair (girl 9, boy 4). funfun

very cool!

Also, props and respect are due for the adoption thing. Anyone can make a baby, but it takes a very special person to adopt and love children who are orphaned\abandoned, and who have not -in all likelihood- had the best life thus far. It makes my soul smile

I wore a red fedora (with a 1940's pinstripe suit) to my sister-in-law's wedding when I had excessively fun hair.

When my wife was in, um, hospital school, they said the students had to have "normal" hair. Black is a normal hair color. She had a (caucasian-ish) friend at school with dreadlocks...just a normal color.
