I can't believe how many times someone has PM'ed me a few days after passing through Columbia to go exploring, and they didn't even tell me they were gonna be in town!

So, the invitation is open for anyone to crash at my pad if they need to. I've got wireless broadband (Recently upgraded to 5Mbps. Thanks Time Warner!), SAT TV, PS2 with all the great games, a pool, and plenty of Southern hospitality to go around.
We've got a pretty comfortable couch in the TV room, and a huge living room if you don't mind sleeping on the floor.

Places to explore while in Columbia:

Babcock Mental Asylum - Kirkbride "replica". Pretty big, requires about 5 hours of good exploring to see the topside, with another 2 hours to see the extensive basement/tunnels.

Anderson Rock Quarry - Beautiful Blue Granite rock quarry in Winnsboro, about a 35 minute drive from Columbia.

Rion Rock Quarry - Sister quarry of Anderson, only it has antique trains. It is now owned by the South Carolina Railroad Museum, but they barely ever use it.

Olympia Mills - Textile mills with pretty cool basement system. Currently under construction to be renovated for apartment use, but okay to view at night only.

BC Components - Large components factory that has been abandoned, but donated to the local recreation commission to be turned into a water park someday. Yeah, right. Has its own sewage treatment plant and a 20,000+ sq. ft. factory with lots of scientific/lab equipment.

Underground Arcade Mall - We're still working on this one. In the 1960's and 1970's, there was a mall underneath Main Street in downtown Columbia that was made to look like a regular street that was topside.

Drains - We've got a few drains around here. Most are large enough to walk upright in. We're still looking for the famous "USC Catacombs" underneath the university.

USC Steam Tunnels - If you're into Stunneling, we've got plenty of steam tunnels underneath the University of South Carolina. Just watch out for the three-eyed man

Those are the big ones. You can always check our site to see others, or the Location DB.
