| Years ago, my friends and I would jump on moving trains in northeast Minneapolis and ride them for short distances just to add to our good memories. A number of times we'd pass by a certain building that was so incredibly tatooed with tags that it was almost scary. It appeared to have been abandoned for many years.
Last week, D_Wrex and myself were checking out a few abandoned theaters when we decided to have another go at infiltrating the main building of a silo complex near dinkytown. I told him about the graffitied building which was within a mile from our destination. We decided to go check it out, since I never had. When we arrived, we realized that getting in would be very simple. There was cheap fencing around the whole building, but easy to climb over. Just about every window was broken or completely missing. We entered through a broken window on the side of the main entrance door by climbing up some conveniently placed scaffolding. Immediately we realized that the structure had been gutted out and was in the process of being renovated. We found new windows leaning against the wall on the top floor and the old ones had been completely removed on this particular floor. I think there were 5 floors, including the basement. We found the boiler room and saw that one of the doors on the boiler had the date 1919 on it. The roof was accessible and had an incredible view of downtown. The basement had a few pieces of machinery left behind, and we couldn't figure out what they were, although they were very photogenic! We found a flyer on the ground that was advertising a new book that had just come out, and what local stores were carrying it, so we decided that the building was either a book factory or a printing center for pieces like the flyer we found. A return trip is in order for quality photographs.
