I just made the executive decsion to finally purchase a new box. Ive got a bit towards it but it will be a month or two before I acctually buy it.
The specs and prices:

AMD Sempron 2400+ for $89
Asrock K7S41GX mb for $61 (Has onboard GFX, Aud, LAN)
512mb Samsung RAM DDR400 (PC3200)- $89 (If I feel like it, I might buy a second one of these as the mobo supports up to 2GB RAM)
420watt ATX PSU -$30


All those parts are new, they total to $309.55 with only the one stick of RAM.(Canadian funds) Now I AM keeping THESE parts from my old box.

The HDD's. Im not looking to replace them as they are well working Maxtors (5400 RPM) They have served me well and when I have enough Im getting 2x120GB WD's or Maxtors but not right now.

This box is a huge upgrade from this one which I currently have;

I might be willing to put up the 800mHz box for sale. Only Im going to switch the RAM out with 2x128MB instead of the 256's cause my mom needs them in her comp. Everything else is going. Proc, RAM, 8mb ATI gfx card, LAN card and the soundcard. No case is going cause I need the case for the new parts. Post if yer interested in the 800mHz box, cause if no one is interested then Im going to keep it for a *Nix server.

Screw getting more ram. Get a better cpu or something. I know what you use your pc for and you don't need 1 gig of ram. Get a better power supply too. Don't get those shitty generic ones. Invest in an Antec or Enermax.

I would personally get a better CPU and mobo but as long as you don't do a lot of gaming, you'll be fine.

Well its all pipe-dreams now PC. The piston head disinegrated in the cylinders so now Im lookin at a $1000+ repair bill. An Im doin it myself too....

and I DO game, just not on this box, cause its got just enough power to do jack shit! Ill live with this for a few more months, then Im going to just buy new everything, HDD's too.

If you game, a Sempron isn't going to cut it. Athlon64+, use it! You can get a 3200+ s939 for like $200 or something.

This should be locked. Im definately not getting a new computer for MONTHS now because the repairs/parts for the engine are totalling to over $1000 cdn. And Im doing it all myself.
