	Hmm well here are my specs. My servers arent top fo the line but it doesn't matter: This server is gonna run my new UE site. Along with many of my friends sites. Apache webserver 450MHz pentium 3 slot A (i think or its slot 1) 128MB ram 120GB harddrive Nvidia Riva TNT Game server 450MHz AMD K6 58MB ram 6.4GB harddrive Generic Intergraded VGA video (I think made my Nvidia) Runs - ultimate doon, doom 2, final doom

	Web and other crap box... Compaq Proliant Pentium II 450Mhz 256Megs of ram PC133 3X 9.1Gig Seagate SCSI Drives 8X Panasonic CD SCSI Drive Windows 2000 Pro. Printer server (with HP laser and Canon injet running off it): Pentium I 120Mhz 32Megs of ECC ram 850 Meg Western Digital drive Western Digital ISA Video card (no monitor hooked up) Recent D-Link 10/100 PCI card Windows NT4.0 Server It's old but we (the 5 workstations + parents laptops) can all print photoshop, PDF, word, and pictures with it without any lag or waiting. Documents come out right away.

	as of 6:00 PM here in colorado I have a Print Server: Compaq Prolinea 590 Pentium 1 233MHZ 48x CD drive 3.5 floppy 1280MB HDD some old network card some old modem onboard video I'm gonna update the specs later when I finish working out some bugs.

Yep, Gateway 450. It did have 128 megs of ram, but I just upgraded that today. Am currently on a quest to find as much ram as I can.

	The server that I'm connected to right now is a pretty quick Intel Xeon we built a week ago, and since there are no computer classes at the college where at, I am connected to a T3 shared by 5 people. [last edit 2/12/2005 9:16 PM by SnArF - edited 1 times]

Nothing wrong with a good old 486 for a small server. My friend and I ran a rather popular website off a 486DX5 133 MHz for a long time before he got proper hosting.

	its on my network whjich has internet access. Its only semi-patched and hasnt had any problems.

Is that your router then? A box like that pretty much makes a perfect router. The CPU will pretty much handle up to 5 and 6 megs of internet traffic, without a problem, which obviously is plenty fast for any DSL or Cable connection.

	My servers are all piles of crap... File Server Dell Poweredge 4100/200 Dual 200Mhz Pentium Pro 415MB RAM, 1x 9Gb, 1x4Gb & 4x 2GB SCSI drives Running Windows NT 4 Development Server HP Vectra 233Mhz Pentium MMX 128MB RAM, 3GB IDE hard drive Running Windows 98 Webcam Server Power Macintosh 6100/66 32MB RAM, 1GB hard drive Running Mac OS 8.1 I could probably ditch the last two and do everything on the Power Edge, but where's the fun in that! Need to get a Red Hat box at some point though...

	sobs My server is a friggin 486 and my main desktop is a freakin 800mHz with a heatsink+fan from a FX-55 3500+ Man I gotta get a new PC, new MoBo RAM PSU and CPU. Going to build me another AMD Sempron system.

	Most definitely..... I would at least double the ram in that system. I heard that AMD are better as servers than Intel chips are. Is there much of a difference?

	AMD is better than Intel at gaming, but definetely not server performance... or so I think.
