I just installed Mandrake linux 10 with KDE, and I have to say I am quite impressed. With a little learning and getting used to, I think it will become my primary operating system, with Windows just there for games.

I'm having compatibility issues with my 9800pro, any solutions?

Do you have the drivers for it? I'm not too familiar with Mandrake, but if ATI has Linux drivers, get those.

Otherwise, try www.linux-drivers.org

The drivers are also available on ATI's website.

Why don't you try Mepis? This is a debian-based linux, that comes as a live-cd. You just pop in the cd, reboot, and you've got a working linux installation. Think of it as a painless way of trying it out. You can download mepis from:

http://www.mepis.org at the mirror links or
http://www.mrbass.org/linux/mepis

There is also Knoppix (livecd)- http://knoppix.org/

Includes support for most major devices, games, word processing suites, and much more. I loved it when I used it .

Knoppix is the granddaddy of all live CDs. The only fly in the ointment is that in some cases it is problematic to install to the hard drive; Mepis only takes a few minutes. Aside from that, they're pretty similar.
