Who's heard the new song, "Hand That Feeds"? What did you think?

I caught it on the radio earlier today... I may be crucified (ironic) for saying this, but it didn't sound all that great IMO. Could just be because it was over crappy radio, and of course many times I like the deeper cuts off his albums better, but it just seemed kinda... stale. Anyway, discuss.

My brother downloaded a few songs from their new cd (my brother and I are huge NIN fans, he's gonna go buy it real soon). Not bad from what I heard.

I've heard three full songs and small clips from the whole album (I know, I can't wait) and I have mixed feelings. Overall the songs sound decent (some better than others) I agree that The Hand That Feeds is a bit weird, not what I was expecting. Some songs (judging from the clips I have) do sound really good though!

He took a totally different direction on this album, and although its not like much we've heard from NIN before, but I will always appreciate and respect what he does.

Anyone get tickets for a NIN show? I got 2 for the Toronto show, I can't wait.

My brother and his friend were on their laptops at the same time, ready for the sale to begin. My bro got his (very crappy) tickets at 11:04 - 4 minutes after sale. His friend clicked "buy" at 11:06 and got nothing. hahaha. It was like a 5 minute sale!! Jesus!

This is gonna piss people off but I gotta say that the new NIN album so far is a huge steaming pile of laughable shit. Dead serious, the minute I heard some of the new tracks I couldn't help but to laugh. He's taking a new twist to the "futurepop" craze that's prevalent in goth clubs, which is a boring cheap style anyways, and smashing it together with meaningless samples and a HORRID vocal track.

The only good album he ever did was broken, but this is so far beyond anything he's done so far. ugh.

You can now listen to the entire shitty album (streaming only, no downloading) at the official nin myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/ninofficial

edit: there's also no 'tracks' either, it's the entire album straight through

Yeah, I got the album about 2 weeks ago. And I'm pretty disapointed. There are a couple of songs that I really like, but overall, it's pretty bad. Now I'm glad I can't go to the concert I have tickets for but am now trippling what I paid for 'em.

It's godawful. Trent should not sing like this. What the fuck drugs was he on when he made this? Did he think taking his, next-to-perfect, ultra-postprocessed sound, and making it shitter would be a good idea?

As far as I've heard, its that he's NOT on any drugs. He's stopped that, he's cleaned up and is just doing what he feels like. You can't fault a musician for changing what he wants to do.

I just got the album yesterday and it's true. Many people will hate it and think it blows. I'm a bit disapointed myself. But being the dedicated fan I am I will listen to it until I can appreciate it and enjoy it for what it is.

And yeah, Trent has cleaned up and been clean for the past three years. I don't think he really cares too much anymore about what people think. So more power to him on that.

I'm about as dedicated as they come and I just can't bring myself to listen to it. Theres no way I'll somehow end up liking it. And "Cleaned Up"? You make it seem like he was a junkie or crack head. As far as I know he never was.

I sure hope he cares what people think, because thats the only way hes going to make money. The album sucks. I know tons of nin fans, and not one likes it. No one is buying it. Of course there will be people who -do- buy it, but if millions of his fans think it blows... What the fuck is he thinking, the contrast is like black and white. His other albums were fantastic and this...? It's just awful.

By cleaned up I meant sober. As in no alcohol or drugs at all. I sure that's a proper use of the term. And if you read his interview in the latest Spin mag you'll know what I'm talking about.

As far as eventually liking the album that happens to me all the time. Hell I never really appreciated the Downward Spiral until about 8 years after it's release. I find, at least for myself, that as time goes on my outlook changes and with that so do my aesthetic tastes. Maybe not for you but that's the way I see it.

I'm with SWC, i'm gonna crawl back into my cave with my joy division, coil and current 93 cd's until music gets better out there.
