So I scored a free laptop the other day. Its a Compaq Armada, P2, Win 98SE, haven't had much time to look at it, I think its got DVD too. Its pretty nice, it was exactly what I was looking for too. I had enough time to even play the Sims on it at a very good speed. I was wondering though, where can I find a bigger hard drive for it? Do they even make laptops that you can upgrade the HD?

1. first big mistake never run the sims on any computer.

2. Nice job, do you have a model number? You can replace the hard drive, as we learned on my old Texas Instruments.

sorry about about the double post but keep in mind some motherboards can't support certain size hard drives without a BIOS upgrade.

A Pentium-II having a DVD drive is really unlikely, even most P-IIIs didn't even have that option.

Laptops use standard 2.5inch drives, you can upgrade the drive as far as your BIOS will allow just like any other computer.

You'd be surprised, check out an online refurbished laptop store, alot of the models with P2 and P3's have DVD drives, you can get them for roughly $300 to $500 bucks. I found a good electronics recycling place near my house so I'm gonna go see if they have anything. I love playing flight simulator on it though, It runs great.

If it's refurbished, then it's very possible, I meant that they weren't sold with them. Whoops.

Don't expect to play DVD's on them properly. Won't work particularly well.

Haven't had any problems with the P2 in my room, its got DVD and its worked every time, but I know what you mean, I think the earlier DVD drives have a tendency to, er, not work.

I think its a 800x600 or so.

Ouch. I couldn't handle that. My friend just bought an old VAIO, I was suprised to see that it maxed out at 1600x1200.

Well I'm not sure for a fact, but the screen doesn't go all the way out to the edges if you know what i mean.
