Any Nextel gurus out there? I am using an i860 i830 flip phone right now, which I love, but as we all know you can crush it with one hand ... so not the best phone for UE. I'm considering buying a used i58sr on E-bay [cheap] as it is more rugged, and I'm wondering if I can just throw my SIM card from the i860 in the 58 and go at it...is there any risk of screwing up my SIM? ~Grit.

You should be able to swap no problems. It would be worth while to transfer all your numbers to the sim before transferring though. Retyping them all is no fun.

I have one of the super rugged ones around somewhere. Pretty sure I do anyway.

*edit* This one, which is what you're looking for.

I'll look around for the charger.

You shouldn't lose the numbers. Only difficulty is if they are saved to your phone and not your sim.

Bummer, I would have given you mine for $10. I only used it for a few months before I switched carriers. I just hope you didn't get the ugly ass yellow trim one and got the charcoal instead.

Yep got the one that doesn't scream "look at me, it's dark and my phone is yellow!!!" ... keep it around though in case this one doesn't work out. With the i830 the contacts are on the SIM, because I had to get it swapped out, and all they had to do was transfer the sim and the contacts went with it ... I just hope that doesn't cause any conflict...the i860 camera phone has a huge-ass sim capacity, enough to store like 200 VGA sized pics...when I get some money I want that phone, it seems a bit more durable than the i830. The main "phone" part of my i830 did survive a 30' drop out of my pocket while climbing a ladder in my theatre ... but the display died. Thanks ~Grit.

sims can onyl be swapped between liek phone series
so u can swap your sim from any 3 digit fone to any other 3 digit fone but not inot a 2 digit phone i tried to do it from my 860 to my 85 and it didnt work
i do have an old 2 digit sim though that is fully legitimate (replaced by the new sim in my 860) that i'd be wiling to sell cheap and any nextel store would be able to copy your contacts from the 830 into their computer and then into the other fone.

if you lived near me i'd just do it for you as i have all the nextel goodies

"goodies" - i've got the new programming cable that also powers the phone to elminate the possibility of data corruption due to low battery during data transfer and various pieces of software that even some stores dont have
