| "So your gonna' tell me that you don't have no black cats, no roman candles, or screaming mimis? You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, husker doos, husker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?"
| I've been feeling funny since I went in that open crypt. Not sure what it is. |

I have sunk into the mire of the deep, where there is no foothold.

| | | Posted by lexiphoto Listen to LOW
| Low is quite good, what little I've heard. Hmm.... Bush, Deftones, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Radiohead, there's a bunch, I guess. Then again, everyone likes to say that they 'discovered' a band. Remember, they must have been pretty big for you to have heard of them in the first place.

| | | Posted by MatC ... and I don't mean Mama Cass. What performer(s) or band(s) did you like before they became (in)famous? Mine is Sarah McLachlan. Back in middle school I was watching "Due South" and they had a song in the show that made me stop and say, "wow... that's awesome, who is that singing?" But, of course, she wasn't mentioned in the credits and this was in the days before the Internet was useful for music searches, and so I never knew who it was until much later. Her stuff got killed for me in college, though, after she got big at Lilith Fair and every other song on the radio was "I Will Remember You" or "Angel" or "Sweet Surrender," and it hasn't helped that her recent stuff has all been so radio-smooth that it makes me want to vomit. (I'll admit I haven't delved into her new albums, so maybe there's some good stuff there... but I kinda doubt it.) Still the experience was meaningful for me because it was one of the first times that a song came out of nowhere and made me take notice. Now, I tend to pay attention when that happens - it usually means a new musical avenue is opening. -- Mat
| I went to see her just when she first had signed with nettwerk. It was at as local pub in Peterborough called the red dog. You will never find her playing anyplace like that again. I also would frequent the bar below it called the underdog. Two of my fav acts were Bratty (Beverly) and Joe Hall. I was sure Joe was gonna make it big but i guess it wasnt to be. Maybe no room in superstar world for a guy that sings about gay construction workers, vampire beavers and the" i dont care bears" running rampant in the streets of Omeemee
