Athol Road old homes

I had an appointment at the Oshawa Clinic today and was witness to the wrecking ball in action on an old home on Athol at Charter. It was one of the last ones standing. I'd say close to three quarters of the block has been demo-ed already. Anyone know any history of this block? As well...does anyone know what the factory/warehouse across the street was/is used for? It looks pretty old.

Right across the street from the Oshawa clinic there is a huge warehouse that is abandoned.. I've tried getting in it's sealed up tight... Any idea what that is? It's massive...

Oops I didn't read all of your post.. You've asked the same question..

Good Job!!! Excellent photographs. I'm really glad someone was able to answer the question of what this place was before it was torn down. The house across from Pic 4 was the one I saw being torn down. It was doctors office according to the sign still hanging by the front door.

I've tried to get into that place, but when i tried i noticed there was security in this place and they do their rounds too! That was going back a year, i saw a website article on that place their supposed to turn it into low income apartments. I'll find the link and post it, where did you hear that it was being demolished?

I used to cruise through that area years ago and recognize the factory. It was a publishing company that occupied the building when I saw it last and was still going strong at the time. I believe it's in a book called "Pictorial Oshawa" by Thomas Bouckley. There were three volumes and the first two were limited editions that were numbered and signed by the author. I will see what I have in my archives at home. (besides dust and mice)

There's a printing/publishing company under the same name in Markham...not sure if they're related.

The lady that lives in the house beside it told me it is being demolished. An arena will be taking it's place. That's why the houses across the street are gone.

The new arena is owned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment....owners of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team and the Toronto Raptors basketball team.

Ya, I thought it was a municipal facility and part of it maybe but it's owned by MLSE. This is going to be the new home of the Oshawa Generals of the OHL.
