Parts needed

I need some parts for a CS server. All I need is 1 or more harddrives. This PC (presario 5440) keeps killing then cuase the case is the size if a walnut and has no case fans, the hdd dies of overheating. I got a old AT case, things huge. It could cool the most powerfullest computers without fans. So everything is going in there.

Here is the minimun requirments.
1gb or more
5400 RPM or more
IDE (if scsi I need a scsi host adapter for pci or ISA and software)
1 is ok more is better
Also I need:
Harddrive fan
Case fan
IDE cables
Floppy drive
video card (dont NEED but want, the current on board card only gives me something like 6 or 16 colors)
TV out card (to record matches to tape/dvd and watch em on tv)

I picked up an old windows 95 pentium 1 machine today, I might be able to give you some stuff from that if you want, but its all outdated.

Edit: Now that I think of it, I actually have 2 of them, one doesn't have an operating system though.

I think I have everything you need. I'll have to check when I get back home. What type of video card? I assume from the age of the PC it would be PCI not AGP.

heck, I'd pay you to come get that crap outta my basement.

Only problem is this shit isn't worth freight.

If you pay the freight I'll send you a whole damn PC to use, I've got six or seven old junkers about.

Well, I have most of what you need.

- A few HDs from 1.6 to 5 GB, IDE
- Lots of PCI video cards, including an ATI All In Wonder with TV Out, however your presario 5440 has an AGP slot. I also have lots of those.
- IDE Cables
- Floppy Drive

If you are interested just make me an offer. It shouldn't cost to much to send them.

You're going to have fun mounting that micro-ATX board in an AT case.

I think I only have one nVidia PCI card (a TNT or TNT2). However, you don't need matching cards to run dual display. Most PCI video cards have a driver built into XP so they work fine for a second monitor. As long as you don't want to run 3D (leave that for the main card) any card that has enough RAM and a fast enough DAC will work fine. What display res will you run on your second monitor? I'll see if I have a card that supports it.

1024x768 is as low as I want to go with it, on second thought I really dont need another PCI card, I *might* have a mobo with onboard and AGP laying around. Lemme check and Ill get back to you.

Ok, that's no problem. Even a 4 MB card will do 1280*1024 just fine and I know I have cards with more. Make sure that onboard video still works with an AGP card in the slot. Often onboard video is disabled when the AGP slot is used.
