Amazon's search engine A9 is getting into the mapping fray - they have a pretty standard map interface (maps.a9.com) - but they have "street view" enabled for something like 22 cities.

Check it out - you'll see the street view stuff in the lower left hand corner - my office is included:

http://maps.a9.com/?mapMode=m&mapBvr=&ypLoc=931+14th+Street+Denver+CO&mapFrom=&mapTo=

It starts out at the alley in the center of the block - go a couple frames left on the north side of the street.

Hm, we just got that for all the streets in our city - not sure if it's hit the external site yet, as we're still in beta-phase. Kind of cool, though still a bit glitcy (process and data, alas).

Update:

try this - http://adonis/visiweb/Visidata.htm

drive-by shots focussing on the right side of the road, so direction of movement is relevant. You get to choose the street, from & to origin and destination points, and can click on any of the images to get a detail shot. Pretty sweek, imo.

Feh, strictly internal to our server, sorry.

Holy crap!

My dad walked in, told me to look for his car. Found it!

Awesome stuff, now I'll never have to leave the house. :p

Edit:

He also told me about how someone at work used this to go inside of Mt. St. Helens during a lunch break, I tried it but couldn't figure it out.
