USB Controller Failure

This started about three months ago. Before that, all of my USB devices worked just fine.

Whenever I plug a device into my USB or Firewire ports, my machine makes that windows sound that says you've connected a device. However, when I try to access any of my files on my iPod, digital camera, or USB flash drive, my machine always says "The disk needs to be formatted." I reinstalled the chipset drivers, and nothing happened, so I had to manually browse the AN8 CD for the USB drivers. After installing them, windows says that all of my USB controllers are working as they should, but whenever I try to access my files, it always replies "The disk needs to be formatted." I am DL'ing the latest drivers right now, but I don't think that they'll work. Any suggestions?
