With the fun of Urban Dead and previous talk of playing an online RPG using www.rpol.net as the message board. It's nice - it's got a built-in die roller, private messaging, etc...

Anyhow, I was thinking of running an RPG using the D20 Modern ruleset (and possibly using F/X, for fun). If you're interested in joining, please respond here and if there's enough interest, I'll set the game up. You'll need to be able to commit to posting at least once per day in the game.

That's okay - it's very simple. I have (somewhere) a D20 Modern character generator that you can use to create your character. Once I track it down, I'll make it available for everyone somewhere. It's an Excel document, if I remember correctly.

Here's a link to a slick little online character generator. I don't want to use any of the fancy Urban Arcana stuff that has been included in this - just straight humans, from the Core rules. The guy who did this has everything separated according to the D20 Modern supplement it appeared in, so it should be easy to avoid stuff I don't think should be used.

Regular folk, so a regular name would make sense, but if you want to be some sort of survivalist fanatic, then you can give yourself a name like Iceman if you want. You don't need to stick with the Urban Undead "classes", though. I know you aren't familiar with D20 Modern, so check out the link I gave you earlier for different classes. The basic ones are Smart, Fast, Strong, Tough and Dedicated. There are specialized and prestige classes as well, but to keep things simple, don't worry about those right now.

If you're familiar with D20 rules of any sort, you can use the point-buy method of setting up your stats, with 32 points to spend. When you're ready, I'll give you your equipment. And don't forget to choose an occupation, because that'll help you flesh out your character.

But before you start the game, I need your name, then I can set up your character.

This'll help. It's the D20 Modern System Reference Documents. Basically, the OGL documents for the game in RTF format without all the glitz of the published hardcover rulebook. Might come in pretty handy...

I didn't understand the Character Generator.

Hmm, I can be an elf and get plus 1 to something and minus 1 to something else, or a dragon that gets plus 8 to a bunch of crap and no minuses - Wouldn't everyone be a dragon? And who can use what spells or ideas? (There's no bounds checking so you can just choose to be a lawful amazing level xx Godly Shinji Migdet Maou of Schazar with Level xx Thunderwank Destructé and all skills of a Gothic Giant Vampyric Toad-Gnome even though you're not in the class???)
