Canadian Company Develops Display - 4000cd/m² brightness and 200,000:1 contrast

A Canadian company, BrightSide Technologies, http://www.brightsidetech.com, is working on a new method to create ultra-vivid ultra-natural displays by changing the backlighting method.

Using this new technology of replacing the Cold Flourescent Tube backlights with thousands of tiny ultra-bright white LEDs, the brightness of an individual section of a display can be varied from absolute 0 to 4000cd/m².

Current LCD televisions offer a brightness of about 300-600cd/m² and a contrast ratio of up to 1200:1; Plasma TVs offer up to 1000cd/m² and 4000:1. This new technology currently offers a display with up to 4000cd/m² and 200,000:1. See Review, below.
