ok so i picked up this book and its got some pretty cool information. all of it is meant to be used pretty much as a last resort
topics include
how to escape quicksand
how to break down a door
how to break into a car (not very up to date)
how to hot wire a car and disengage the steering lock (only works on older cars)
how to do a j turn in a car (quick 180 degree turn)
how to ram a car
how to survive a poisonous snake bite
how to fend off a shark
how to escape from a bear and mountain lion
how to take a punch
how to jump from a bridge into a river (will probably break your legs)
how to jump from a building into a dumpster
how to maneuver on top of a moving train
how to jump from a moving car
how to preform a tracheotomy
how to id a bomb
how to treat frostbite/frostnip
how to treat a broken leg / bullet or knife wound
how to survive adrift at sea
how to survive lost in the desert
how to survive if your in the line of gunfire

if anyone wants a chapter let me know and ill try to get it posted up ... the info on breaking into cars and hotwiring i will not post as it is the same information you can find anywhere online and most of it only works on older cars

... well yea actually this is a flashlight in my pocket .. but im still happy to see you

how to jump from a moving car:
1 pull up the e-brake .. wont stop the car but should help slow you down
2 open the door
3 make sure you jump out at an angle that will take you away from the car : since your moving at the same velocity as the car your going to continue moving in the same direction as the car
4 tuck in your head arms and legs
5 aim for a soft landing (anything is better than pavement)
6 roll when you hit the ground

how to maneuver on top of a moving train:
1 do not try to stand straight up stay bent slightly forward leaning into the wind (if the train is moving more than 30 mph its best to crawl on all fours)
2 if the train approaches a turn lie flat (the train may have guide rails to deflect water, if so grab on to them)
3 if the train is aproacing a tunnel lie flat there is usually about 3 ft of room
4 move your body with the rhythm of the train do not proceed in a straight line, spread your feet about 36 in apart and wobble from side to side as you move forward

How to identify a bomb
1 if a carrier delivers an unexpected package or letter that is bulky inspect it for lumps bulges or protrusions without applying pressure
2 handwritten addresses or labels from companys are unusual check to see if the company exist and if they sent a package
3 be suspicious of packages wrapped in string
4 watch out for excess postage on small packages and letters, this means it wasnt weighed at the post office (its no longer legal to mail stamped parcels weighing more than 16 ounces from a mailbox)
5 watch out for leaks stains wires or excessive tape
6 watch out for parcels with no return address or a nonsensical return address

how to survive if you are in the line of gunfire
(if you are the primary target)
1 get away as fast as possible
2 run fast but in a zig zag line (its harder for the shooter to draw a bead on you that way)
3 dont bother to count shots you have no idea if the shooter has more ammo
4 turn a corner as quickly as possible
(if you are not the primary target)
1 get down and stay down
2 if your are outside and can get to a car, run to it and lie behind a tire on the opposite side of the car from the shooter if no cars are present lie in the gutter next to the curb
3 if you are inside and the shooter is inside get to another room and lie flat or get behind any thick solid objects
4 if you are face to face with the shooter do anything to make yourself less of a target . turn sideways and stay low
5 stay down until the shooting stops or the authorities arrive and give an all clear

please note this is a quick write up
mark if your interested in borrowing the book ill loan it to you next time your in town

I checked out a book similar to this in high school, but it was very old (30-50 years), much more detailed, and all in all I thought it was a bit more useful than the modern ones. I ended up buying it from the library as I never returned it... I'll try to find it....

Wow, all of that is really old.

how to jump from a moving car:
1 pull up the e-brake .. wont stop the car but should help slow you down

Pulling the ebrake all the way at speed can cause the car to turn. If you don't push out of the car with enough force you could roll into the path of the car and get run over.

How to identify a bomb
1 if a carrier delivers an unexpected package or letter that is bulky inspect it for lumps bulges or protrusions without applying pressure
2 handwritten addresses or labels from companys are unusual check to see if the company exist and if they sent a package

6 watch out for parcels with no return address or a nonsensical return address

Anyone with half a brain can make a bomb that won't be detectable by any of these items. If you're that suspicious throw it away or bring it to the police.

Thanks for pointing this out, captain obvious.

You think it would be obvious but while I was diving under a 10K I watched people shocked, as mortars hit. A greater explanation would be better.
