These software is bad news on an ordinary PC, but a major disaster on Windows Media PCs.

I haven't seen any difference stated anywhere, nor can I think of one. What's the difference?

RG6 is used in satellite systems becuase its higher quality, to keep out line noise (Im pretty sure). Your setup would work, but you have your PS2 wired into every tv, so you would need a couple of wireless remotes or something, also you need a RF modulator so you can connect it too Coax and select the channel. If you have AIM, Im me, we can talk about this, Ill make you a diagram.

you could just disassemble a laptop and build it into the brief case... that way, you could either open the briefcase and have a screen, or plug it into a tv.

I found an old Emerson 659 (http://members.iglide.net/hworth/radio/659.html) at a thrift store... I haven't done anything with it yet, but eventually I'll put in a Mini-ITX board and an LCD screen to scroll song names. The goal is a completely silent media PC; no fans, no hard drive, everything will run off a CF card and the network.

Anyway, these are perfect for people considering a tiny PC: http://mini-itx.com/

I hear the software is very restricting no? something about DRM not willing/wanting to play things. I'm interested in this because I have wanted to build one but if it's going to act like that I'm not so sure.

I currently assembling a new media center PC. I havent bought the parts, im just building the case.

Here is what I plan

DFI CA64-TC
VIA C3 1GHz
512MB 133MHz SD-Ram Stick
36GB Raptor
300GB Barracuda (this will also be able to record to my 2TB server when its done)
DVB-T Tuner for digital free to air terrestrial channels
DVB-S Tuner for digital free to air satellite channels
analog Tuner for regular cable television
Turtle Beach Rivera sound card
Some random 1GBPS network card with a direct line to my server
ASUS DVD drive

Some freeware media center program probably media portal. This will be tied into my cable network and be able to be viewed on every tv.

This is a repost from another forum I visit (I wrote this).
Well as you may have read im getting a new room next month. I want to make a nice entertainment system and that would include getting a new PVR. Here are the specs as Ive figured out so far.

Mercury PVCLE266M-Lv3.0 & VIA C3 Samual 2 $54.99 after rebate
Kingston 512MB CL2.5 PC2100 DDR 266MHz Memory $44.99
Seagate / 40GB / 7200 / 2MB / ATA-100 / EIDIE / OEM / Hard Drive $49.99
ASUS 16X DVD Drive E616A $22.99

I need to choose a tuner, What do you recommend? Something VERY easy to setup (I will use windows xp pro sp2)
Also whaty do you recommend for a free media center program?
I also need a video card, problem is the TV only supports, RCA Composite (Red, yellow, white) and umm that NPR, CPR, P or wtvr the other RCA looking connectors and S-Video. What would offer the best video?
I need it too look good on a 32Inch TV, all my other stuff will be running through it (IE. DVD, VCR's etc.).

lots of video cards have s-video out...you could do this and buy an adapter to RCA cables, if thats a problem you are running into.

Problem is S-Video and RCA Composite (or is it component) dos not offer great quality. Im asking which is superior, all ive tried is s-video.
