Reading 2100 steamer near Vancouver

The Reading 2100 a 4-8-4, (now the tphx 2100), is in the BNSF main yard near Vancouver right now. This thing is massive! It has 2 tenders with it, and appears to be in great shape. It is now owned by Thomas Payne Holdings, (prob some old rich rail nut), and has been updated with safety stuff. Can anyone help me with info? tx! Ride on!

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

Hey HypnoToad.

Sorry to drag up this older thread but I thought you might be interested in some photos and information I have on 2100.

During summer '05, I was fortunate enough to work on her in the St.Thomas museum, getting it ready for a cross country trip. (The original plan was under steam, not up on flatcars.) For various reasons, this never happened. The politics behind such a move are mind boggling.

So when the time came to lift 2100 and her tender onto the flats, I was dubbed the 'Official Photographer' by Tom Payne.

Mr. Payne is a interesting fellow. He has a lot of knowledge of the railway and taught me a lot over the summer weekends that I worked on 2100. In the environment I was in with him, he was a great guy. However, I hear he's not so nice out in Seattle trying to get the beast to actually move. He's more than just a rail nut, he's one of the reasons why we have shortlines in Canada. He started the movement with his own shortline, the Central Western Railway, out in Alberta.

Sorry to plug my website twice in under an hour on the same forum... hehe.
The photos from the lift can be found here: http://jay.thegreb...100-lift-part-one/

2100 isn't doing so well down in Seattle currently. Hopefully her crew can get her back on track and make it up that damn hill....
