| | | The Washington Post are Reuters report on these "black sites" which are being used to hold at least 30 major terror suspects, with the individuals being stripped of all human rights and contact with the outside world - endearing unlimited times of unlimited horrors on the whim of an Agent with no oversight, legal system, or review systems (no one has to give any reason for locking you up in one, you just get thrown in, never to come out). No non-CIA contact is allowed and the locations of the facilities are known only to a select few. The use of such prisons is being used as a loophole to get around laws designed to protect prisoners from such treatment on US soil. - Something that is even now becoming less of an issue. Reuters link Unknown people, unknown numbers, no need to justify or explain, no rights, limitless torture, limitless executions, and all without question. Another brick in the wall. (Hopefully the same wall of the executions of those that are too apathetic to do anything against such things... And I do include every single person who doesn't directly stand up against their own elected government for such attrocities above and beyond everything else they have done - Either this behavior is completely acceptible to them, or they're too greedy and worthless to be considered...) Have A Nice Day.

| | | Nor will the US be taking the UN seriously any time in the future. John Bolton, the guy Bush just assigned to be our UN rep, had these words of wisdom: "There's no such thing as the United Nations. If the U.N. secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference." and: "Diplomacy is not an end in itself if it does not advance U.S. interests." Realistically, the US isn't going to support any organization that wants to take away our god-given right to squander most of the earth's resources and randomly attack whoever we want. As Beryl said, the UN would actually have to have a method of enforcing their decisions, and nations like the US would have to get used to sharing and playing fair. If the UN ever made a serious effort to enforce international equality and freedom, Bush would probably claim it infringed on US sovereignty, pull out of the UN, and start nuking stuff. Edit: this isn't just a rip at Bush, there are plenty of other world leaders who would do the same thing. A few countries know the value of cooperation, but most are self-centered.
