Hi Everyone! Just joined the group, and how cool this forum is!

Here's my info:

I have a studio in my home that includes the follwing: Digidesign Digi002 (Pro Tools 7.4), Tascam M-320 Recording Console, Alesis QS8 Master Keyboard, Keystation88 Pro MIDI Controller, (2) Korg 03R/W Modules, Korg M1R Workstation, Yamaha MJC8 MIDI Patchbay.

As for my master audio drives and components: Alesis ADAT (blackface), Tascam DA-38 DAT, Alesis AI-2 ADAT-to-MTC Interface, Digidesign USD-Sync, (2) firewire drives. External PT Plugin Modules: Alesis MIDIVerb4 DSP (effects), dbx 160x compressor.

I've been in the audio industry business since 1996, and hold the following titles to my name: Audio Engineer (broadcast, FOH, studio, post), Production Director, Composer, MIDI Orchestrator, Film Scorer, Lighting Designer & Technician, Stage Manager (theatre, concert, production).

I've also been playing piano professionally for over 21 years, and been composing music for film for almost 15 years. -- I do own a Fender SRX5 5-string bass (maple/purple-heart inlay), but it hangs on the wall for display only.

I have extensive knowledge on MIDI hardware, MIDI data, anything audio related, and am certified as a Pro Tools Operator (since 2005). I've worked with several major bands, production companies, and high-end studios in CA.

Since the start of my music career, I've owned three studios (Valley Studio Productions, Project88 Studios, Almost Human Productions), successfully recorded several major concerts on a Pro Tools system, and have been FOH Audio Engineer for 4 major churches (services, concerts, productions, theatre, etc).

I enjoy teaching others about audio, MIDI, or music in general. Any questions you may have, feel free to ask. Always ready to help.

-Ryan

have you used any samplers from the 80's - early 90's that sound so ugly and rugged that they could barely be considered when making a professional product?

like a drum or phrase sampler etc...

Just a Roland S770. Borrowed one from a friend, and it came with a monitor and mouse so you could "navigate" thru the menu systems. It's sampler drives were SCSI Data Cartridges that you would load into the sampler. Very tedious and the sounds weren't all that great.

Which is why I bought the Korg 03R/W and M1R. If I has the time and money, I'd buy several of these to use. Probably would look like James Newton Howard's studio:

Greetings!

I have joined.

I have been involved in professional sound reinforcement since 1988. I have been involved in some aspect of providing audio for all manners of events, parties, and concerts. I've worked with the best of the best equipment on tour and some of the worst of the worst equipment when just trying to git-er-dun.

When I was in high school, I played the trombone and bass guitar. I played the piano before that. These days, I couldn't play any of that to save my life. I was involved in choir as well.

I have more audio equipment sitting around my home than I know what to do with.

No, not any E-110's, but I do have an E-120. That is the 12" version of the same series.

I'm here as well still.

I play guitar, bass, sing, and used to play violin.

I'm currently playing lead guitar and my band Junior Crime Fighters, and also provided bass on our demo that we just recorded. Of course with any recording a musician just made and is excited about, I'ma whore it
